Portuguese rule continued beyond British withdrawal.
Under Portuguese rule
A Portuguese possession, not a princely state awaiting an accession instrument.
British withdrawal did not end Portuguese rule in Goa. The transition came in December 1961 through Indian military action, Operation Vijay. Goa therefore needs a different category from both former British provinces and princely states. [1][2]

- During the 1961 operation, K. P. Candeth led the Indian land forces in Goa and became military governor; Portuguese Governor-General Manuel António Vassalo e Silva surrendered. Ram Manohar Lohia helped stimulate the earlier Goa movement. These are later participants, not the 1947 governor.
